A tough race, but Iona confirmed that she has continued her improvement coming home in a magnificent 9min 39.03secs. A personal best by almost 10 seconds and nearly 6 seconds inside the Commonwealth Games qualifying time.
Competing against six Kenyans and couple of Americans, an Australian plus GB World Championship representative Rosie Clarke, she was undaunted by the quality of the opposition. Iona’s performance was a wonderful 30th wedding anniversary present for her parents Matthew and Mandy.
She and her coach Pauline Ash will now have to wait for the Selectors to confirm her place in the England team that will travel to Brisbane, Australia in April 2017.
